The Barnburner is a challenging, fun and must do race!
This race will test your endurance, skill and fortitude to press on as you race through the heart-pounding trails of Lake James State Park and the fun, sweeping single track of Fonta Flora Trail system.
The Barnburner is for EVERYONE! Race for the finish or enjoy our Party Pace class to take in all the mountain and lake views. The challenge is up to you.
Post event refreshments will be provided in Pisgah Productions style!

Thank you to Lake James State Park, Burke County, NC, and the NC Wildlife Commission for permitting this route through areas still recovering from Hurricane Helene. The 2025 Barnburner route includes 29.5 miles and just over 2000′ of climbing on Lake James and Fonta Flora trails and starts and finishes at the Linville Adventure Pasture. There will be one rest area at Mile 20.

6:00am – 8:30am – SIGN-IN OPEN.
8:45am – Mandatory racer meeting.
9:00am – Race Start

Rules:
1. Have Fun!
2. Racers must wear an approved cycling helmet at all times while on the bike.
3. Racers may receive support from other participating racers.
4. Racers may NOT receive outside support.
5. Racers must stay in single-file except to pass.
6. Racers must obey all local traffic laws.
7. Electric-Assist bikes (E-Bikes) are prohibited.
8. The Race Director reserves the right to disqualify any racer for any reason.
9. SIGN-IN upon completion of the event (Please, this includes DNF racers).

Directions:
Follow I-40 to exit 100 / Jamestown road. Follow Jamestown road (becomes independence blvd.) Turn left onto hwy 126. Continue for approximately 12 miles to Linville Adventure Pasture.

LODGING:
FREE CAMPING is available at the Linville Adventure Pasture for both Friday and Saturday nights!
The nearby Lake James State Park has two stellar lakeside campgrounds within 15 minutes of the start. More information can be found at the park website.
There are also multiple hotels in Morganton about 20 minutes drive from Linville Adventure Pasture. Airbnb and VRBO are excellent resources as well.
